This beautiful but relatively easy climb offers fantastic views and a “taste” of the Dolomite mountains.

Passo Rolle

We approach Passo Rolle by taking a van to Imer, where we start our warmup on the flats to Fiera di Primiero. From there, the road starts up a gradual 14 km slope to San Martino di Castrozza, where we get our first glimpse of the Pale di San Martino.

The 8 km climb to the pass begins just out of town and is considered “pedalable” by most cyclists, having an average grade of about 6.5%.  After a series of 12 switchbacks, the road levels out and allows for a fast finish over the remaining 2 km and the final 4 switchbacks, finishing at a mountain retreat. At 1984 m above sea level, Passo Rolle offers the spectacular sights unique to the white-faced Dolomites.
